The Space In Between

And The Change We Don't See Coming

The Space In Between

On the space in between — and the change that sneaks up on us when we’re not watching for it.

You know that meme….

Snoopy Meme of him relaxing in his house watching tv and eating snacks

For the first two months of 2024, I’ve been living this like it’s my mantra 😂 At this point my dog has a more active social calendar than me, and I’m good with it.

For me, this is the space in between. The space in between work and rest. The space in between all that the world demands of me as a business owner, FT employee, daughter, sister, friend, dog mom, etc. This place gives me peace, solace, and time to retreat and reflect. In this space, I am safe, and free to be my most authentic self. I can cry, dance, laugh, be angry, pray, and dream. Here no one is demanding anything from me, I can fully refill my cup.

I look forward to it, I plan for it and I relish it. Or at least I have…

What I didn’t realize during these last two months is that this space not only provides peace, it promotes change. The kind you don’t see coming. You just look up one day, and things are different. You are different.

( I am different. )

Now the space in between is a place of transition. The placeholder. The incubator. Here you grow before you go.

Currently, I’m still here, and if I’m being honest it is extremely uncomfortable. I don’t fit where I used to be, I’m outgrowing where I currently am, but I haven’t grown enough to fit where I’m going.

I often find myself filled with anxiety, wishing I could just skip to the end.

But then I think back to the space in between, and I remember peace, joy, pain, love, growth…it all happens here. So I can’t skip to the end because this journey we call life isn’t about the destination, but all of the things that take us to it.

It’s about the space in between.

When life starts to feel impossible remember the space in between and the God who sits with you there 💜

All My Love,

B
